While working as the head of surgery at a large animal hospital, Dr. Surgeon observed that there was a strong correlation between an animal’s oral health and its overall health. Research at the time was also beginning to make the same observation. Intrigued, Dr. Surgeon decided to specialize in the field of veterinary dentistry. A few years later he became one of the leading authorities on Veterinary Dentistry in the world.
In 1996 Dr. Surgeon founded ANC Veterinary Clinic with the primary goal of providing quality dental care for animals. In a short time, ANC gained a reputation among other veterinarians as the clinic to refer their difficult dental cases.
Today Dr. Thoulton Surgeon is recognized as one of fifty board certified veterinary dentist worldwide. Veterinarians from all corners of the world seek his advice.
Dr. Surgeon has over 20 years experience as a veterinarian and his expertise as a veterinary dental specialist is demonstrated in the numerous papers he has authored including his most recent, "Surgical Exposure And Orthodontic Extrusion Of An Impacted Canine Tooth In A Cat: A Case Report" , published in the Journal of Veterinary Dentistry 17(2), 81-85, 2000.
Dr. Surgeon received his undergraduate and DVM degrees from Cornell University. He is a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College and a Charter Fellow of the International Academy of Veterinary Dentistry. He lives in Mount Vernon, NY with his family.
